LAUSD's new high school curriculum

I've heard some teachers mention "Common Core Standards," and it appears that these are new curriculum standards being adopted in California (not just LAUSD). However, as one teacher mentioned, "you don't have to worry about these right now." I have looked at the lower grade standards, and they are very detailed - to the point where it appears they are intended more for the teachers and administrators than for parents. Still, it's not a bad idea to peruse them so you know what to expect each year.

For parents of older children, LAUSD has adopted a new curriculum for high school called the "A-G Curriculum." I can't find anything that actually specifies what it is - like whether it has a core curriculum on the basics like math and reading but then offers electives for other subjects. The material all seems to discuss what it will do, i.e., prepare students for college. LAUSD posted a video of Superintendent Deasy discussing the new curriculum on Twitter.
